Taylor Swift

Taylor Alison Swift (born 13 December 1989) is an American singer/songwriter. Her discography spans multiple genres, and her songwriting--often inspired by her personal life--has received critical praise and wide media coverage. Swift was born in West Reading, Pennsylvania and relocated to Nashville when she was 14. In 2004, Swift signed a songwriting agreement with Sony/ATV Music Publishing. She also signed a recording contract with Big Machine Records. She was the first female country artist to record a U.S. platinum-certified debut album, and it was a self-titled album. Swift's next albums Fearless (2008) and Speak Now (2011) explored country pop. The latter's "Love Story," as well as "You Belong with Me," were among the first songs from the country genre that made it to the top of both the U.S. Pop and All-Genre charts. She tried out electronic and rock styles on Red (2012), which included the first Billboard Hot 100 number-one song, "We Are Never Ever Reuniting Together" and she eschews her traditional image on her synth-pop album 1989 (2014) which was accompanied by chart-topping songs "Shake It Off", "Blank Space", and "Bad Blood". Reputation, a hip-hop-flavored album that featured the top-selling song "Look What You Did to Me" Me Do", was inspired by media attention. Swift, who was leaving Big Machine, signed with Republic Records for her seventh studio album Lover (2019) which then followed it with the autobiographical documentary Miss Americana 2020. She ventured into the realm of indie folk and alternative rock in her 2020 albums Folklore and Evermore which featured two singles "Cardigan" as well as "Willow" topped the Hot 100. Swift began to re-record her first six albums in response to an issue with their masters. Swift released two albums in 2021 - Fearless (Taylor’s Edition) and Red. The longest-running track on the Hot 100 was "All Too Well (10 Minute version)". All-time streaming records were set by Swift's album 2022 Midnights and the single "Anti-Hero." Swift has directed music videos, movies, and even played supporting roles in various films. Swift is among the greatest-selling musicians ever. Swift has sold more than 200 million copies worldwide. Swift is the most streamed artist on Spotify and has five albums that have more than one-million copies sold in the United States. Among her accolades are 12 Grammy Awards, including three Album of the Year wins; an Emmy Award; 40 American Music Awards and 29 Billboard Music Awards; and 92 Guinness World Records. Swift has been included in such rankings as Rolling Stone’s 100 Greatest Songwriters of All time; Billboard's Greatest of All Time Artists; Forbes Celebrity 100; and Billboard's 100 Greatest of All Time Artists. Honored with titles such as Artist of the Decade and Woman of the Decade, Swift is a vocal advocate for the rights of artists and women's empowerment.
